Bachelor of Arts in Theology
4 years full time – Koiari Park Campus, Fulton Campus, Sonoma Campus
The B.A. (Theol) prepares ministers and other skilled pastoral personnel for service in the Adventist Church in the oceanic countries of the South Pacific. It provides a foundation for ordination to pastoral ministry and also for later specialisation and graduate studies. The course is offered with an approximate equal emphasis both in specialist Biblical and Theological Studies and in cognate Applied Theology or Pastoral Care studies, which will assist the student to be effective in professional pastoral ministry. Diploma programmes, which are nested within the degree, are offered on the Fulton and Sonoma campuses.
Practicum takes place in each of the four years of the course.
Graduate Diploma in Theology
2 years full time – Koiari Park Campus, Fulton Campus, Sonoma Campus
This course has been designed for a person who already has a Bachelor degree in another discipline, who wants to take up a full-time career in gospel ministry.
Master of Arts (Pastoral Ministry) and Postgraduate Diploma (Pastoral Ministry)
4 years part time (intensive mode) – Study Centre
The MA (PastMin) and the nested PGDip (PastMin) are designed to develop human resources to serve in key leadership positions in the church in the South Pacific. Graduates develop a strong academic foundation equipping them with a comprehensive knowledge base and skills of critical thinking and analysis and communication. At the end of the MA (PastMin) programme the graduate will have: achieved mastery in the area of pastoral ministry, with the enhancement of professional skills and knowledge; high order of skill in analysis, critical evaluation and professional application; and creativity and flexibility in the application of knowledge and skills to new situations in ministry and church administration, to solve complex problems and to think rigorously and independently.
The courses are offered in intensive mode in the mid-year (June and July) at the Study Centre, based at the Papua New Guinea Union Mission, Lae, PNG.
Master of Theology
2 years full time – Koiari Park Campus
The MTh is a research degree providing advanced theological study for those who have completed a first degree in theology and who have demonstrated the potential for excellent writing and analytical skills. Through a mentoring relationship, research students develop skills in high level analysis and presentation. Research may be undertaken in a range of fields (e.g. religion, theology, ministry, evangelism) and could be applied, involving fieldwork, or be literary based.
