Master of Theology
Course Overview
The MTh is a research degree providing for advanced theological study for those who have completed a Theology first degree and who have demonstrated the potential for excellent writing and analytical skills. Through a mentoring relationship, research students develop skills in high level analysis and presentation.
A student could undertake research in a range of fields (religion, theology, ministry, evangelism, etc) and the research could be applied, involving fieldwork, or be literary based. The course is designed to provide graduates with recognised qualifications to enable them to teach ministry and theology at secondary and higher educational levels. They also would have the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue further study and research at the doctoral level.
At the end of the MTh programme the graduate will:
Achieve mastery or overview of the relevant field of study and in-depth understanding in a specific area of knowledge;
Demonstrate a high order of skill in analysis and critical evaluation through the planning and execution of a piece of scholarship or research;
Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in the application of knowledge and skills to new situations, to solve complex problems and to think rigorously and independently; and
