Diploma in Education (Primary)

Course Overview

This course is designed to provide students with the basics of teaching. It emphasises on the Ministry of Teaching being demonstrated through service and Christian leadership.

There are exciting job opportunities in this field of study for one who is passionate about teaching and educating young children in different settings.

Practical Experience

All students are required to participate in practicum sessions as part of this course. There will be extensive classroom experience throughout the duration of the course. We offer two hours of weekly teaching experience at our Demonstration Primary School during the duration of their studies. Further we conduct two block teaching sessions of five weeks each in the two year of studies.

Career Opportunities

Students who have successfully completed a diploma in Primary Education are employed as teachers and educators in a variety of educational settings.
Examples include primary teachers in Adventist, government and independent school systems; IEA systems; teaching and educator roles in community situations, after-school care co-ordinator, tutor, community/environment/outdoors educator, curriculum consultancy, educational research, corporate training and development, government (policy development) and educational administration

GPA or equivalent: Minimum 2.25
Maths B or equivalent – Pass

Further Study Options

Students who have earned a diploma in Primary Education have the opportunity to study in the bachelor of primary education program at a university of their choice such as University of Goroka or Divine Word University or for some they have overseas to obtain further studies in primary education and specializing in special fields such as Special Education for Disability children etc.
